Mathematica Package LaplaceAndzTransforms V8.0

is written by Urs Graf who owns the copyright is a Mathematica Package. The Package symbolically computes Laplace transforms, inverse Laplace transforms, z-transforms, inverse z-transforms, advanced z-transforms and their inverses, Hilbert transforms. It solves differential equations, integral equations, difference equations of the discrete type and of the continuous type, all by using Laplace- and z-transforms. It offers routines for numerically computing of inverse Laplace transfroms. You need the mentioned book Applied Laplace Transforms and z-Transforms for Scientists and Engineeres for using the Package. In order to have an idea of the Package take a look at the list of commands, the contents of the book. Beside to be a textbook on Laplace and z-transforms, it is also the manual for the Package.  Owners of the book can obtain the newest update version of the Package from the author.

This Package is exposed and used in the textbook of the author
  • Applied Laplace Transforms and z-Transforms for Scientists and Engineeres, Birkhauser Verlag, Basel-Boston-Berlin, 2004, ISBN 3-7643-2427--9. Version 8.0 is an update of the Package that was delivered with the book. The book equally presents a readable exposition of the theory of Laplace- and z-transformation destinated to applied mathematicians, scientists and engineers.

Mathematica Package GaussHamilton

i
s a small Package of the author performing analytic geometry and Möbius transformations in the complex plane, vector geometry in three-dimensional space and in the two-dimensional plane.

The above Packages can be obtained from the author Dr. Urs. E. Graf in electronic form. You simply send an e-mail to urs.e.graf@elpacos.ch.

Hull design of sailboats by using mathematics

The author has developed a method of hull design that uses  mathematics rather than the classical instruments as pencil and splines. By doing so the hull becomes numerically precisely defined and the inherent beauty of mathematics reveals itself in the beauty of  the lines of the hull. See an example.

Modeling of walve gears of steam engines

The classical walve gear  of Stephenson, Gooch, Walscherts-Heusinger, and Joy  used for controlling the admission and exhaust to the cylinders of a steam engine were always difficult to be computed analytically. By using the methods of analytiy geometry together with the power of Mathematica the author has  modeled  various walve gears.  The resulting  software  is  a useful tool  in the process of design and regulation  of a steam engine.
